Monday November 15th, 2010 - Seattle, Washington! Instagram! Tegan and Sara!

Hello! I spent couple of days in Seattle last week for a wedding. Visited with some friends and the Pike Place market to shoot some photographs. See down below (prints available: http://ryanrussell.etsy.com).

Also there is a great photography iPhone app called Instagram you should download. Click here (http://instagr.am) to downoad the app and add me, I'm listed just as "ryanrussell" on there. I put a couple shots I have taken with the app below as well.

April 5th, 2010 - Archive update in progress + photo project

Update:
Hello! I have officially begun converting my photograph archive from a chronological listing to alphabetical based on band name/city, etc. with a special directory for all my polaroids. It'll make it much easier for everyone to view/find photographs without having to click through tons using the old system. The new archives should be available by the end of the month, until then it will not be possible to view any photographs on the site except by viewing past news updates.

March 27th, 2010 - 2010 + 3 months

Update:
Hey hey! Well it's now late March, between being in the studio in Jan/Feb with Terrible Things recording their first record and now art directing that record plus two other records coming out this year I have had zero time for updating the site. I post new photographs as I take them over on my twitter: http://www.twitter.com/xryanrussellx in the meantime though. Once all this work is done I will get everything in order on this site. I did however put up 14 brand new photographs for sale on my ETSY page. This is the ONLY way to purchase my photographs outside of a gallery and everything is priced at $10 so anyone can afford a print.

Tons of new photoshoots from this year to post: Against Me!, Motion City Soundtrack, Circa Survive, and more. Speaking of Circa Survive here's a peek at a couple shots from their show in Birmingham two weeks ago:

Hope you had a Merry Christmas and a rad New Years! Still working to get the new site in order. Should be about 500+ new photographs when all is said and done. November 24th, 2009 - Too much! No Time!

Update:
With all the photoshoots as of late I have had zero time to put anything online. I also decided it's annoying to look through my photo galleries based on clicking them one by one (I did that because they were in a specific order I wanted you to view them in). This has become a problem since there's so much I have to leave out from shoots to keep it moving along and I'm sure you'd like to be able to pick which band or city you wanna see photos from. Well, I feel ya. Coming January 1st (hopefully) this site will be completely re-indexed by the band alphabetically. That way you can see a list of every band I have shot and pick whoever you want to see. That better? Good!

I got nothing to post photo wise here though right now. I'm letting you down I know. Paramore "brand new eyes" is finally out worldwide!

So after months of waiting, the record is out please go pick it up. Definitely my favorite album so far this year. Thank you so much to everyone who has written me saying they loved the artwork/photographs. It's mind blowing to have done the photographs/co-art direction of a widely released album like this especially one from a rad band such as Paramore.

In addition, to that Tegan and Sara have finally announced their new album Sainthood and the new 3 volume photo book boxset! Volume is #2 entitled, In, and is the one that I shot photographs for. It was from a week I spent with the girls in New Orleans documenting our trip as they wrote a new record for first time together. July 6th, 2009 - Paramore "brand new eyes", MATSOD "III" and Birmingham Magazine

News:
Hey everyone! Hope you are all doing well! Just a quick update of things:

First off, if you haven't heard the new Paramore record is called "brand new eyes"(see left) and will be released September 29th. I shot all of the photographs for the record back in May and June. Every photograph in the record has a direct relation with the album's lyrics, plus the band and I art directed/designed the entire album's layout. There will be a standard and deluxe edition of "brand new eyes" pre-ordering starts soon and on July 7th (tomorrow), the first single "Ignorance" will be available on iTunes.

Second, The new album by Maylene and the Sons of Disaster "III" (see right) is out everywhere! Please go to your local record store and pick it up. For this album we continued the story of Maylene where "II" left off and displayed what happened after the attempted capture of the Sons and the emergence of the new gang. Don't know what I'm talking about? Go pick up all 3 Maylene records "I", "II", and "III" to see the full story.

Finally, Birmingham Magazine featured me in the current issue (Taylor Hicks cover/Hot issue) with 7 other Birmingham folks. Big thank you to everyone over at the magazine. I love the city that I grew up in/still reside in so it was definitely an honor to be featured in one of the most distinguished magazines in Birmingham.
